TransGlobe Property Management Services Frequently Asked Questions - Insurance Matters
Question: Is TransGlobe responsible for my personal belongings should they be damaged in my apartment?
Answer: TransGlobe is not responsible for any loss or damage to your personal belongings while situated on the rented premises in accordance with the terms of your lease. It is a condition of your lease that you obtain renter's insurance at your own expense in order to protect you from any loss or liability which may occur.
Question: What is renters' insurance?
Answer: TransGlobe has insurance on the building in which your rental unit is situated and also for certain items inside your rental unit such as carpets, light fixtures and appliances, so you may wonder why you need coverage too.
Here are three excellent reasons why you need additional property insurance:
- TransGlobe's insurance does not cover any upgrades you have made to your rental unit and paid for yourself. For example, you may have installed upgraded carpets or added built-in shelving units in the closets.
- TransGlobe's insurance will not cover your personal belongings. Your jewelry, artwork, furniture, entertainment equipment and other valuable belongings will not be protected.
- You will not be protected against personal liability should you accidentally damage a neighbour's property or should someone be injured while visiting your home.
Most Canadian insurance companies provide renters or tenant's insurance for the reasons listed above.
